BOYNE Golf Welcomes Epson Tour Star Sarah White as Brand Ambassador

Michigan native and rising women’s professional golfer will represent the Northern Michigan golf destination

Petoskey, MI—BOYNE Golf proudly announces Sarah White, a standout on the Epson Tour and currently the longest driver in women’s professional golf, as a brand ambassador. White, a West Michigan native and Western Michigan and Texas State alum, has been playing the Epson Tour since 2020, and she just qualified this week for her first-ever LPGA Tour event: the 2024 LPGA Mexico Riviera Open at Mayakoba.

As women’s golf gains momentum and Michigan continues to grow as a national golf destination, this partnership spotlights a local athlete with global potential, driving visibility for BOYNE Golf and the next generation of professional talent.

White, who appeared on the ABC reality television series Holey Moley, will represent BOYNE Golf by showcasing their logo, promoting the leading golf destination brand as she travels nationwide pursuing her professional playing career throughout the year, including the Epson Tour’s Great Lakes Championship June 11-16 at The Highlands of Harbor Springs.

A Grand Rapids native, White’s golf journey began at East Kentwood High School, where she won the 2014 MHSAA Division I State Championship. She went on to play collegiate golf at both Western Michigan University and Texas State. In 2020, she captured the Michigan Women’s Open joining her brother, Mike White, as the only siblings to win the Women’s and Men’s Michigan Opens.

White, who is 27, turned professional in 2020. That year, she received a sponsor’s exemption to the Founders Tribute. She immediately took advantage and won the golf tournament as a non-member, becoming the first non-member to earn an EPSON Tour Membership. Since then, she has five top 10s with 68 starts. She has led the Epson Tour in driving distance for the past three seasons, averaging over 302 yards off the tee in 2024, making her one of the longest hitters in professional women’s golf.

PGA Tour Player and former Michigan Amateur Champion will promote the Northern Michigan golf destination

Petoskey, MI—BOYNE Golf proudly announcesRyan Brehm as its brand ambassador. The 39-year-old Mount Pleasant and Traverse City native will represent BOYNE Golf as he continues his journey playing professionally on the PGA and Korn Ferry Tour.

Brehm, a PGA Tour winner in 2022, currently playing on the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tours, will represent BOYNE Golf on and off the course by showcasing their logo, promoting the leading golf destination brand as he travels nationwide pursuing his professional playing career throughout the year.

Brehm, a former Michigan State University standout and assistant coach with an economics degree, was the 2007 Michigan Amateur Champion and three-time Michigan Open Champion. He was the first Michigan State golfer and Michigan resident to win on the PGA Tour since Jackson’s Brian Stuard won the 2016 Zurich Classic in New Orleans. He is also the second Mount Pleasant native joining Dan Pohl as a PGA Tour winner. Mount Pleasant has a rich history of producing elite PGA and LPGA golfers. That list includes Pohl, Doug LaBelle, Cindy Figg-Currier, and Kelly Robbins.

DETROIT (May 22, 2025) – The Rocket Classic announced today that University of Mississippi junior and top-ranked amateur Michael La Sasso has received a sponsor exemption to compete in the 2025 tournament, scheduled for June 25-29 at Detroit Golf Club. La Sasso is set to make his PGA TOUR debut at the Rocket Classic after receiving a surprise invitation from tournament representatives.

La Sasso is 11^th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and fourth in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd men’s collegiate ranking. A two-time First Team All-SEC selection for the Rebels, he led the team with a scoring average of 69.51 in the 2024-25 season while helping them to their first No. 1 ranking in program history.

Recognized for his talent, La Sasso was selected to represent Team USA in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup for a second consecutive year. He was also one of 10 collegiate golfers named as finalists for the 2024-25 Haskins Award to acknowledge the country’s top male golfer. Additionally, his achievements have earned him a spot on the watch list for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award, presented annually to the country’s top collegiate player.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, La Sasso attended St. David’s School in Raleigh and earned medalist honors at the 2021 North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association State Championship, leading St. David’s to the 3A state title.

DETROIT (May 12, 2025) – The Rocket Classic announced today that Michigan State University golfer Ashton McCulloch has received a sponsor exemption to compete in its 2025 tournament, scheduled for June 25–29 at Detroit Golf Club. Tournament representatives surprised McCulloch with the news during a special presentation.

McCulloch made his PGA TOUR debut at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open, and then qualified for the 2024 U.S. Open after shooting 8-under in a qualifier at the Cherry Hill Club in Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada.

“Our commitment to community includes every corner of Michigan. We’re proud to stand behind the Spartans in East Lansing and welcome Ashton to the Rocket Classic,” said Mark Hollis, Chief Operating Officer of Rock Entertainment Group. “Ashton earned his spot among the Big Ten’s best, and we can’t wait to see him make a potential run up the leaderboard at this summer’s tournament.”

McCulloch’s standout junior season earned him multiple honors, including All-Big Ten Second Team recognition and a spot on the All-Midwest Region Team, selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He was also named to both the All-Big Ten Championship Team and the Academic All-Big Ten Team.

During his 2023-2024 season, McCulloch led the Spartans with a 70.89 scoring average. He set MSU’s single-season scoring record, surpassing the previous mark of 71.22 set by James Piot in 2021. McCulloch also recorded the lowest 18-hole score in program history with a 10-under-par 61 in the second round of the Johnnie-O at Sea Island in March 2024.

McCulloch was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year during his 2021-2022 season as he was the top finisher for the Spartans on six separate occasions that year. This honor has been awarded to just two other MSU golfers: Piot in 2018 and PGA TOUR professional Ryan Brehm in 2005.

The Ally Challenge is a Regular Season PGA TOUR Champions event in 2025, which will give way to the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs¾a season-ending, three-tournament series used to determine the TOUR’s season-long champion. The 2025 PGA TOUR Champions schedule features 28 events and will conclude with the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix, AZ. The 2025 Season will have players competing for more than $69 million in total prize money, the highest in PGA TOUR Champions’ 45-season history.

Crystal Mountain strengthens the Golf Operations team with two new additions

THOMPSONVILLE, Mich. (April 30, 2025) – Crystal Mountain, a premier four-season destination in northern Michigan known for skiing and championship golf, is excited to announce the strategic hiring of two experienced leaders to its golf operations team. Mark Fenech has been named Director of Golf, and Doug Hand has taken over as Golf Operations Manager. These appointments come at an exciting time as both of Crystal Mountain’s 4-star rated courses, Betsie Valley and Mountain Ridge, are now open for the season. 

Mark Fenech brings more than two decades of comprehensive golf experience to Crystal Mountain. Most recently, he served as the Director of Instruction at Elephant Rocks Golf Course in Williams, AZ. His impressive career also includes roles as Buyer/Merchandiser for Anthem Golf and Country Club in Anthem, AZ, and PGA Head Professional at Indian Springs Ranch in Eureka, MT. A Class A Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and a Certified “Yoga for Golf” Instructor, Mark is recognized among the nation’s top teaching professionals. His expertise extends to mentoring and instructing PGA Tour players who have achieved major tour victories, as well as amateur champions, aspiring junior players, and collegiate athletes. 

Doug Hand steps into the Golf Operations Manager role after six years as the Facilities Manager at Crystal Mountain, and a strong 10-year background as a dynamic Director of Golf at other resorts. His expertise encompasses operations oversight, budget management, personnel development, and exceptional guest relations. Doug is passionate about crafting personalized golf experiences tailored to each guest’s skill level and desired outcomes. Notably, during his time as Director of Golf at Loon Golf Resort, formerly Marsh Ridge Golf Resort, he strategically managed daily golf operations in collaboration with various departments and contributed to a golf course redesign that enhanced guest flow and experiences. In 2022, Crystal Mountain recognized Doug for his dedication to service with the 2022 Service Excellence Employee of the Year award. 

The Director of Golf is responsible for the holistic operation of Crystal Mountain’s golf offerings, including the golf shop, golf carts, tournament operations, the learning center, and administration. Mark will collaborate closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Revenue Analyst, Food & Beverage, Marketing, and Four Seasons Club Membership departments. Mark officially began his role in mid-March, with Doug joining the golf team in early April.

Crystal Mountain is home to two championship golf courses rated four stars by Golf Digest and boasts a nationally recognized golf school with a 10-acre practice facility. • All 13 teams competing, with the top three teams receiving first-round byes and automatically qualifying for Saturday’s semifinals.
• Ten teams seeded 4-13 competing in five quarterfinals matches on Friday, with matchups determined at a live press conference featuring team captains during tournament week. Each of those team matchups will consist of two singles and one foursomes match, with the team winning at least two of the three matches advancing to the next round.
• The five winning teams of the opening quarterfinal round will advance to the semifinals where they will face off on Saturday against the top three seeds.
• The final round on Sunday will revert to stroke play, with all teams competing in tiers based on their results the first two days. The cumulative score of all four players will count towards the team’s score, with the four teams advancing to the final battling it out for the title of team champion.

Last year at Maridoe Golf Club in Dallas, the all-Australian Ripper GC squad delivered a clutch performance to win the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship. With captain Cam Smith and Lucas Herbert sinking critical birdie putts down the stretch, the team surged to 11 under par in a high-stakes final that saw the lead change hands multiple times on the final day. The team effort from Smith, Herbert, Marc Leishman, and Matt Jones led to champagne-soaked celebration in front of a raucous crowd and earned the Aussies bragging rights heading into 2025.

Through the Grounds Plus pass, fans not only receive full Grounds Pass access but also enjoy exclusive entry to elevated viewing galleries around the course. Plus, kick back at the Oasis—a shaded chill-out zone with a private bar designed for an elevated tournament experience. The biggest fans can also take advantage of the three-day pass currently available for purchase, delivering a full weekend of fun. Single-day grounds passes will be available for purchase at a later date.
