Michigan Golf Architecture Society Top 100 Course Rankings
I am actually not sure what the Michigan Golf Architecture Society is all about. Their website has a top 100 list linking to short descriptions of many, but not all of the courses, and a list of names of people who made “contributions.” Are they financial contributors, or did they contribute to the scoring of courses? I recognize just two of the names on the membership list on the front page with any degree of certainty. I may know one or two others peripherally.
Moreover, there’s no indication of when the list was made. I found it only because a playing partner mentioned it during a round last weekend.
The Top 100 list is a mix of private and public. I don’t have much comment on their rankings, as I have had precious few opportunities to play Michigan’s private courses. For example, Kingsley Club is really, really good. Is it better than Crystal Downs. I have no idea. I’ve never played Crystal.
You can visit their site at the link above for their updated list. I’ve got a partial list from their website below, with links to my own reviews of the 56 I’ve played
