As 2025 draws to a close, it gives us here at MyGolfSpy a chance to reflect on all of the cool stuff we’ve talked about this year.
Yes, it’s crazy that we get to call this a job. And, yes, we’re eternally grateful that you all care enough to read what we write.
This week, I asked the staff to nominate their favorite articles written by other staff members. If you haven’t read them already, there’s no time like the present to dive into these staff-favorite stories.
Our annual April Fool’s piece is always a staff favorite. This year’s USGA Golf Ball Buyback article written by the talented and entertaining John Barba was an absolute homerun. So many Easter eggs, so many jokes, and still somewhat believable.

Rarely does our CEO step in and put pen to paper but after witnessing this year’s zero-torque craze, he had to come out of retirement to write this banger. Few articles we’ve written this year have had a bigger impact on our ultimate mission of helping golfers find joy in the game.
We’re also trying to keep our jobs so, naturally, we had to “nominate” an article from the boss man. (If you’re reading this, Adam, just remember what I got you for Christmas last year.)

Yep, we’re big advocates for golf becoming less traditional and more welcoming. This article by the most hated man at MyGolfSpy is a microcosm of how MyGolfSpy feels about golf as a whole. It’s stuck in the past and needs to catch up with the times, so to speak.

We admittedly don’t put out a lot of female-focused golf content, mainly because our audience is nearly 98 percent male. That said, golf apparel has seen a dramatic shift recently and Bennett, our head of social, did a great job at highlighting that here.

While we’re all for welcoming new folks to the game, we’re also drawing a hard line when it comes to rules and course etiquette. These five habits (including leaving bunkers unraked) happen way too often and we are on a mission to put an end to it.

The “most hated man” at MyGolfSpy is back with another banger. Sean’s pieces always spark debate and this one was no different. While we try to be positive where we can, we wouldn’t be doing our job if we didn’t call out the bad stuff in the game, too.

As the staff grandpa, John Barba, is best known for his meanderings on the history of golf. His ongoing “History’s Mysteries” series is always a staff favorite read. This one on a 50-year-old court case is fascinating, to say the least.

Once you’ve seen what we’ve seen, it’s impossible to ignore the reality that the golf ball makes a huge difference. Year after year, we see that it is perhaps the most undervalued piece of equipment in your bag.

No one, and I mean no one, has ever in the history of the world put more effort into writing about pictures of cats on golf balls than Tony Covey. And in the same vein, no one has pissed off more readers with one single article than Mr. Covey did here.
Yeah, this one deserves a read (and a comment) when you get a chance. It’s absurd in all the right and wrong ways.
