Braided Byrd Belt Review – GolfBlogger Golf Blog

Braided Byrd Belt
Grade: B
Teacher’s Comments: It does what it purports to do. Whether it’s for you is a matter of personal style.

The Braided Byrd belt is a bit like a Bat-Belt for golfers. It’s got a holder for tees, and a magnetic ball marker on the buckle. With the Byrd Belt, you’ll never need to return to your bag for a forgotten bit again.

Is it something you need? That depends on how forgetful you are. Because I’m a walking golfer, I’m never more than a step or two away from my bag. I can attest, however, to seeing more than one cart golfer needing a buddy to toss him a tee — and more than one using an improvised ball marker such as a bit of leaf.

The Byrd Belt avoids both those scenarios.

I was initially concerned that the ball marker would fall off the buckle, but that didn’t end up being an issue. After a couple of rounds, I still have the marker.

One note: the tee holster fits standard slim tees only. If you have fatter ones, or ones with larger tops, like a Martini tee, it is not going to work out.

Another concern is whether the tees in their position might interfere with the swing of a lefty. If you’re dropping the left elbow in, might it bump the tees? Perhaps.

As a belt, I like the way the elastic braid keeps my pants up while still having enough “give” when necessary. The leather appointments on the end and near the buckle offer a nice touch of class.

The Braided Byrd Belt’s elastic material has a quality feel and should last a great many rounds. It showed zero signs of wear after the several I tested it on.

In addition to the pictured red, white and blue weave, the Byrd Belt comes in a blue weave and a black and white weave. All are attractive.

I like the belt enough that it has a place in my closet at the cottage. While I don’t have an issue with forgetting tees, I have found that it avoids the occasional issue of getting poked with a tee in the pocket.

As a final note, this might be a good gift for the golfer in your life who has everything. I can almost guarantee they don’t have a golfer’s Bat Belt..
