Holiday Meadows

Teacher’s Comments: Surprisingly delightful. Nine holes that left me wanting more.
I came across Holiday Meadows entirely by accident. I was on my way home from another course, saw a sign and made a split second decision to stop in and check it out.
I’m glad I did. Holiday Meadows turned out to be suprisingly delightful.

Holiday Meadows is part of the Holiday Shores RV Resort. Until I saw Holiday Shores, I would have said that an “RV Resort” was a place where camper trailers and winnebagos pulled in for a weekend’s commune with nature. The ones at Holiday Shores were of a much more permanent nature, with add-on structures, and even floors. Most looked more like modular housing in a manufactured home community.

But back to the golf. Holiday Meadows is a nine-hole parklands course designed by Dave Atkinson in 2001. It is routed around several large ponds, and over some very slightly rolling terran. One small knoll provided elevated tee boxes for two holes. Another provided a slightly elevated green going up and a slightly elevated tee heading down.

The ponds (and a large stream) are for the most part on the edges of the holes, threatening wayward shots, but not requiring carries.
In all, well done on the routing.
The individual holes also were clever. Six of the nine are doglegs of varying degrees, with fairway bunkers pinching lines.

My favorite hole was the double dogleg, par 5 seventh. It starts from a slightly elevated tee, doglegging right, then right again, with a large pond running the entire length on the inside curve.

The green is on a bit of a peninsula, with bunkers on the left and right. The one on the right is fortunate, for it caught my approach shot which otherwise would have rolled into the pond.

What I liked about the hole was that there were three opportunities for decisions about how much to risk the water. Playing the outside left the entire time will keep the water out of play (but possibly bring one of two bunkers on line). Risking the water off the tee, then on the second and third will considerably shorten the hole.
Decisions, decisions.

From the back tees, Holiday Meadows would clock in at just over 7,000 yards if played as a full eighteen. This is no pitch and putt.
Holiday Meadows doesn’t have a published rating and slope.
| Tee | Yardage |
| Black | 3, 513 |
| Blue | 3, 204 |
| White | 2, 997 |
| Gold | 2, 743 |
| Red | 2, 505 |
| Orange | 2, 035 |

Conditions on the day I played Holiday Meadows were excellent. Tee boxes, fairways and greens all were in great shape, and the edges of the holes well-cared for. It was among the better-conditioned courses I played in the summer 2025.
In all, Holiday Meadows is a very pretty course.
I very much enjoyed my play of Holiday Meadows and would not hesitate to play again if I found myself in the area. The fact that it was just nine holes left me wanting more.
