CT 1200 Golf Rangefinder Review

CT 1200 Golf Rangefinder
Grade: A
Teachers’ Comments: After using the external display for a while, I don’t know how I lived without it. It’s like having a second screen for your PC.

I had previously reviewed a Cigman CT-1000 laser rangefinder and thought it was a nice piece of tech for a very inexpensive price, so I was happy to have the opportunity to review the company’s latest offering.

The CT-1200 also is a relatively inexpensive golf rangefinder, but has a neat addition to its oeveure: an external color display.

Situated on the side of the rangefinder, the color display shows in big bold numbers the distance to whatever target you have zapped. The eyepiece shows the same information — just as with a standard rangefinder — but it is so much easier to see on the side.

Indeed, after using the CT-1200’s side screen for a couple of holes, I started to feel the same way about it as I do having two monitors on my PC: how did I ever do without it?

Zap the target; look at the side of the CT-1200 rangefinder. Or … zap the target and keep staring at the tiny numbers inside of the eyepiece.

It is really no contest. Looking at the big numbers on the side is so much easier.

Aside from the side screen, the CT-1200 has the now-usual suite of features, including vibration feedback and a slope switch. It has six selectable modes: slope compensation, straight distance, continuous scan, horizontal / vertical distance and speed mode.”

Honestly, I only ever use the straight distance mode.

Optics on the unit are good, with 6x magnification. I had no problem finding and locking in on the flag.

Literature for the Cigman CT-1200 says that it is effective up to 1312 yards. I think that would run from one end of Washtenaw Golf Club to the other, so I will just have to take their word for it. The CT-1200 certainly does the job at normal golf distances.

The Cigman CT-1200 is rechargable via USB.

The price is right for this rangefinder. As of this writing, it is $79.99 on Amazon.

If you’re in the market for a rangefinder, this is one to consider.
