Golfing Into Halloween - GolfBlogger Golf Blog

Halloween is second only to Christmas as the largest commercial holiday in the United States.

I’m not sure what that says about us as a nation, but given the merchandising opportunities, it is not surprising that several golf companies are having fun with it. Given the wide scope of the genre — from books to movies, comics, video games, board games and other art forms — there’s a lot of room to work.

One of my favorite golf companies — True Linkswear — has been at the game for years with their “Dead Golfer Society” shoes, clothing and accessories.

This year, they’ve got new OG3 Pro Dead Golfer shoes, slides, t shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and more.

I particularly like the OG3 Pro Dead Golfer shoes (shown above). Their crew neck sweatshirt is also sweet.

Another fave — SuperStroke — has also offered Halloween themed products for several years.

This year’s special edition grip features Zombies and glows in the dark. Not sure about the utility of a glow in the dark golf grip, but it’s cool.

In past years, they offered Masked Slasher and a Headless Horseman Grip. I’m still kicking myself for not getting a Headless Horseman grip.

Super Stroke has a Marvel license, so I think they should produce a Werewolf By Night or Tomb of Dracula grip. I’ve got one of their Iron Man Tour 2.0 putter grips, and it’s great.

Over the years, I’ve accumulated a couple of Halloweeny driver headcovers. In the photo above, the one on the left is a barrel-style model from True Linkswear.

The one in the center is from Hell For Leather Golf, which I ordered from England before the tariffs. While some may not consider Godzilla part of the horror genre, I absolutely think it belongs to a category of “atomic horror.”

The company that makes the Godzilla cover Hell for Leather has a lot of cool headcovers from a variety of geeky genres. They’re in England, however, and I ordered before the tariffs, so who knows about their availablity at this point.

Mostly, however, the Halloween headcovers are an uninspired lots of skulls — either of the sugar skull or Punisher variety. There is also way too much skull and crossbones themed gear.

I want a Cthulhu themed headcover. As with Lovecraftian Horrors, golf is full of things Man Was Not Meant To Know.

To that end, I had AI generate the Cthulhu Driver headcover above.

Callaway has a limited edition Chrome Tour golf ball with a chainsaw imprint. That’s not bad, but the Chrome Tour is out of my price range.

Bridgestone has brought its “Boo” golf ball back. When it first came out, it was an homage to “Boo” Weekley, one of their tour players.

TaylorMade has a Pirate and Werewolf collection of golf balls and headcovers. Their Full Moon blade putter headcover is tempting.

Finally, I recently discovered a company called Roosevelts (rsvlts.com), which has a huge selection of geeky apparel and accessories. They’ve got gear with Scooby Doo, Disney, General Mill’s monster cereal characters (Count Chocula, etc), Universal Monsters, Marvel Zombies, Batman, the Peanuts, skeletal dogs, Mars Attacks, Goosebumps, Disney villians and so much more. Much of it is apparel, though. I haven’t bought anything from them, so I can’t comment on quality and such.
